What’s Your Label?

We all wear labels. Some are visible—like the team jersey you throw on for game day, your job title at work, or the nickname your friends call you. Others are more subtle, tucked away deep inside our hearts. These are the silent labels we assign to ourselves: not good enough, failure, broken, unlovable. Labels that no one else may see, but ones we carry with us every day.

The truth is, labels have power. They shape how we think, how we walk into a room, and how we treat ourselves and others. That’s why it’s so important to ask: What label are you wearing? And more importantly: Who gave it to you?

The world is quick to slap labels on us based on our performance, appearance, income, or past. But God offers us something different. He doesn’t look at your résumé or your regrets. He looks at your heart. He sees who He created you to be.

David wrote in Psalm 139:14, “I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” That’s a label worth wearing. Fearfully and wonderfully made. Not flawed. Not forgotten. Not second-rate.

And that’s not the only label God gives us. Scripture says we are:

  • Chosen (1 Peter 2:9)

  • Loved with an everlasting love (Jeremiah 31:3)

  • More than conquerors through Christ (Romans 8:37)

  • A new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17)

So the next time you catch yourself wearing a label like not smart enough or too broken, pause and ask yourself: Would God say that about me? Because if He wouldn’t, then it’s not a label worth keeping.

Maybe someone else gave you a name that hurt. Or maybe you’ve repeated something negative in your own mind for so long that it feels like truth. But friend, the only label that truly matters is the one God gives you. And He calls you His child.

Choosing to wear God’s label means silencing the lies and replacing them with truth. It means standing tall, not because of who you are, but because of whose you are.

So, what’s your label today? I hope it’s one from your Creator—the One who knows you best and loves you most.

Put on His label. Wear it boldly. Because you are fearfully and wonderfully made.
