The Power of Faith-Filled Prayer

“And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith.” — Matthew 21:22

There was a time in my life when prayer felt more like wishful thinking than a real conversation with God. I’d send words up into the air, hoping maybe they’d land somewhere in heaven. But this verse from Matthew tells a different story. A bold one. It tells us that if we ask in prayer—*and* if we have faith—we will receive.

That’s a powerful promise.

But let’s be honest: sometimes we pray and nothing seems to happen. We wonder if God’s listening. We doubt whether our faith is strong enough. We begin to believe the lie that maybe we’re not worthy of answered prayers.

I’ve been there.

What I’ve come to learn is this: faith isn’t about how perfectly we pray. It’s about how completely we trust the One we’re praying to. God isn’t a vending machine for blessings. He’s our loving Father, and prayer is how we come close to Him. Faith is what keeps us holding on when we don’t yet see the answer.

Think of a child asking their parent for something. The child doesn’t analyze if their request is eloquent enough. They ask because they trust. They ask because they believe their parent loves them. That’s the kind of childlike faith Jesus encourages in us.

When I finally surrendered to Christ, my prayers changed. They weren’t always polished, but they were real. And slowly, I began to see God move. Not always in the ways I expected, but always for my good.

There were doors I wanted to walk through that He gently closed. There were situations I wanted fixed that He allowed to stretch me instead. But over time, I saw prayers answered in ways I never could’ve orchestrated on my own.

If you’re praying for something today, don’t give up. Keep asking. Keep believing. Not because you’ve figured it all out, but because you know Who you're talking to. And if your faith feels small, remember Jesus said even faith the size of a mustard seed can move mountains.

Faith isn’t about the outcome—it’s about the relationship. When you align your heart with God’s, your prayers carry power. Not because of you, but because of Him.

So pray boldly today. Ask with faith. Trust with open hands. And know that your Father in heaven hears every word.

He’s not ignoring you—He’s preparing something far greater than you can imagine.
